
Death and Taxes. The ancient Egyptians excelled at administering both. A recent translation of a lengthy papyrus scroll from 1,450 B.C. proves the point, at least as far as death goes.
In an article reported in Smithsonian Magazine, researchers found what appears to be a series of steps embalmers followed in preparing the body for the Afterlife. What makes this find unique is that it addresses the embalming of the face for the first time.
Naturally, I refer to embalming in my ancient Egyptian trilogy, The First Dynasty, as it was an integral part of Egyptian life. Of course, so were taxes!
